3G iPhone in Singapore

iphonewhite

Hey all,

Yesterday I was finally able to get a phone in Singapore. My original 1st Gen Jailbroken iPhone was on it’s last legs. The side volume control was stuck forcing the volume up, the button on top of the phone that lets you turn the screen/power the phone off was no longer responsive, and the phone had more than it’s fair share of scrapes and scratches on the back.

I debated for a while not getting another iPhone. I couldn’t believe the hardware barely lasted over a year for me. I bought my original last Oct and it started (in typical Apple fashion) falling apart as soon as the included one year warranty was up.

But they have a great program for the Apple iPhone here in Singapore with SingTel. With a two year contract I was able to get the iPhone for about 125 USD… an offer I couldn’t really refuse.

I love the 16 gig version over the older 8 gig. The storage does fill up quicker than you’d think, and it’s nice to have all my NPR podcasts and odd music on there at all times. I don’t really know why I went with the white version. I think so it’d be easier to tell my older one apart from the newer one (I might keep it as a backup phone for when I travel to Thailand). But it looks sharp and it’s really nice to have a properly functioning phone again.

Also, I love all the apps now that I finally have a data package with my phone (in Thailand just bought top up minutes on DTAC/Happy). Singapore’s streets and districts actually make sense, so I’m able to check the Google Map function and find my way around as I explore the city… pretty cool.

Anyone else using an iPhone?

Paul

That sounds like a sweet deal. Is everything that much cheaper in Singapore? I’m sure it’s cheaper than Thailand, but cheaper than US?

Since you’re in shopping mode, could I request you to look for a dive watch for me? ;)
