buUuk and other iPhone Apps for Singapore

Hey all,

Dug around today in the iPhone applications store for various iPhone apps to help in the transition to Singapore. So far there’s a handful of apps that seem like they’ll really help out.

The included Maps program really works out here. In Bangkok the streets and numbering systems don’t make enough sense to get you anywhere. Here you can actually map out a route somewhere.

buUuk - this looks to be a really exciting app. I fired it up and there’s a listing of special offers going on in Singapore. You can click on coupons and show them in stores for special deals, like buy one get one curry dishes at an Indian restaurant. You can also search listings for food by type of food and by location with a visual map showing surrounding eateries in your area. It’s all community based and features user submitted reviews and pictures.

SGTransport - This app provides a handy pocket guide to the MRT train system. It also has a full bus schedule for all the various bus lines and where they’re at.

I put a home page icon to isingeo.com - this web app allows you to search by physical address, mrt stop, hotel, and a number of other options. Once your location is entered you can look for nearby food & drink, shops, transport, entertainment centers, and other info. Should be a great tool for just traveling to different areas of town and finding things to do.

Cinepura - this is another weblink I placed on the home screen. This “web app” gives you a listing of all the films currently playing in Singapore and the show times at different theaters.

I also loaded the Straits Times and Eventful. We’ll see if these prove useful. Any others apps you know about or ones I’ve missed?

Paul

    Hi,

I’m one of the developer for buUuk. buUuk is still new, so if you have any suggestions for improvement, you can message us directly from buUuk. Try it out, and write some reviews with photos.

Singapore iPhone apps mainly focused on transportation. There SG Transport, Singapore Bus Guide, TrafficCam SG and SG Buses, SG Trains, SG ERP. The last 3 are mine. Drop me an email if you need a free promo code.

Thanks for replying and your commitment to the software. I’ve been using it for the past few days and really liking it. Am playing around with taking hi-res images with my Canon 5D and uploading to iPhoto and then using those on the reviews so the pics are a bit better than the iphone versions :)

I might hit you up for those codes soon. Thanks for the offer.
