Hey all,

Yesterday received info from the agency helping me with my Entre Pass application that my Entre Pass was approved!

I’ll be able to pick up the Approval Letter either this week or early next week. Then all I have to do is register my company, provide a bank statement with sufficient funds, and get my Visa from my Entre Pass. I’ll now be a legal working force in Singapore.

I’ll get to enter the country in the citizens / Permanent Resident line which is cool for re-entering the country. I won’t be taxed on the first 20,000 SGD of personal income (nice). My business will also be tax-free for the first three years (below 100,000 SGD)!

I’ve long dreamt of opening a full fledged photo studio / design company and now I’m starting to take the initial steps. I’ll start by bringing the photo work I’ve been doing in Bangkok to Singapore. I’ll continue shooting weddings in Thailand and will add Singapore to the mix. I’ll also start branching out more with freelance design services and will begin booking jobs for designer friends and taking a small commission. I think that I’ll specialize in media where precise, clean, and clear communication of ideas is the key (way finding systems, maps, guidebooks, etc).

The next couple years will be interesting for sure. I’ve always wondered what I could do in a country where people speak my language and I’m working more with a resident (rather than flying in just for one event) population.
