New (to me) Apple Bluetooth Keyboard

Hey all,

Will be doing a lot more typing in the coming months. So decided it was time to move off the laptop and onto a real keyboard. Not wanting to use up precious USB 2.0 slots I chose to go the bluetooth route.

This left me basically two options. The Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and a monster of a keyboard from Logitech. Had I been in the US where things are more reasonably priced I might have had my arm twisted towards the Logitech (I’m also lusting over the MX1100 Logitech Mouse), but seeing as the Logitech is 400 SGD and the Apple Keyboard is the same price as in the US (more or less) I went that route.

The keys feel really nice under fingers. I’ve just started typing with the thing and I’m already flying. All the shortcut keys work as they should. Lastly, and most importantly to some in the apple cult, the keyboard has the same style and character as all my other equipment (not counting my atrocious, red Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0 - picked it up on clearance at Target 3-4 years ago for 10 bucks). Once that’s off the desktop I’ll be editing in style :)

The bluetooth feature is super nice. I was setup in all of about 2 minutes and ready to type. I put the keyboard to sleep to save batteries when not in use and can bring it back up again with the push of a button. Part of me came home maybe expecting more, which is silly… it’s a keyboard. It does everything a keyboard should do and nothing else. It doesn’t try to double as a mouse. Best of all is the small size. I’ll find a little case or bag for the thing and will carry it with me wherever I travel. No more sweaty palms (due to laptop heat :) ) for me. Can keep the laptop off my lap and will now get about finding a decent external monitor and docking stand for the laptop in lieu of an iMac.

Any good bluetooth mice recommendations?

Paul
