PhotoKeys for iPHone
I know, I know. Another iPhone application. But this one is seriously worthy of any photographer/designer’s attention - if they spend any amount of time in Photoshop.
PhotoKeys is a hot, button/tool selector for popular image editor Photoshop. If you have an iPhone/ipod touch and keep it tethered next to your computer when editing, PhotoKeys gives you access to common keyboard shortcuts and actions at the touch of a button.
The implementation is super easy. You download and run a server application on your computer - it’s easier than it sounds. Just download and run the program and you should be up and good to go. You’ll share the wifi connection with your computer (if running wifi in your home/office) and the server handles the button interpretations.
There are multiple screens with various buttons. I’m finding the “edit” tab most useful currently. I have access to undo/redo/save and 8 action hot keys. That way I can covert to BW, XProcess, or Sharpen all at the touch of a button. No more clicking around.
My only gripes so far are that the action buttons aren’t larger and that you can’t customize each page. I hope in future releases they allow you to select what buttons go where so I can ditch some of my seldom-used buttons for more/larger action buttons. We’ll see.
Best of all the application is only 3.98. Compared to other “dedicated” Photoshop keyboards and tools this is a steal.

PS - OK, no more iPhone apps for a week or more I promise. I’m off to Bali tomorrow and will post up bragging info on surfing, clubbing, food, etc in this popular resort area.
