Remember the Milk iPhone App
Hey all,
In my effort to streamline and increase my personal organization skills I underwent a search for a new todo/prodoctivity appliation for my iPhone and computer. After much searching I decided on Remember the Milk.
The reasons why after the jump
How can you not love an application that quotes The Office - easily one of my favorite films of all time
Ok, I don’t know since I don’t work in an Office, but maybe TPS reports exist in the real world as well, but I don’t know about them.
Beyond that I love the overall look and feel of the application. It doesn’t seek to be a calendar replacement - I have iCal for all of those needs. I wanted a To-Do list that was basically a task list where I can easily check off tasks as I go through my day.
Other neat features from this application are the fact that friends can share tasks with you. If your friends have a Remember the Milk account they can create their own tasks and then share them with you online. A great way for girlfriends to remind you to do the laundry.
Another interesting feature is the location aware task feature. The way I interpret this feature is that it’ll tag various tasks with a location marker and use the iPhone’s built in GPS features to read when you’re in the neighborhood. So you could put a reminder to pick up a lamp when you’re at a local electronics store and if you’re like me you might be there and forget that was on your list till home. With this you’d get a nice little alarm in your pocket reminding you to search for a lamp while there. Seems cool, but don’t know if I’ll really use it (mostly since I have 3G turned off most of the time to increase battery life on my iPhone and keep data rates down). There’s also a nearby option so your boss or girlfriend or whatever could update your lists with things to do when in certain areas, then when you’re out at a mall you could just click on current location and it’ll let you know if there’s any other tasks you need to do while in that area.
Remember the Milk is currently free with limited features and only 25$ for a whole year of usage. Compare that to Things which runs 50$ for the computer version and 10$ for the iPhone application. This is not a mac only application by the way and there are tons of features and useful additions for PC users as well.
Anyone looking to organize their tasks in a more intuitive way might want to consider Remember the Milk (both Web version and iPhone application).

I use the “Things” desktop/iPhone combo. Also very good.

I liked the look of that one, but found the overall price of 60 bucks or so too much. But seemed well written.
