Hey all,
Haven’t shot at Indus in ages it seems. This was a good party to come back for though. Gauruv, Sid’s younger brother, was spinning for the first time in 5 years.
The party was called Swag Attack, which I didn’t really understand, but oh well. I thought Swag like free stuff, but nothing was free
G and a Thai DJ took turns spinning through the night. The place really filled up too. More people than Bed on Christmas.
The only problem I have with parties at Indus is the garden area is so nice and ever since the smoking ban came in to place in Bangkok everyone just stays outside. This is good if you just want to stand around talking. But if you’re looking to dance and 2/3rds or more of the people are outside then it kind of sucks.
All in all a good party with lots of people. Maybe Indus can turn into more a regular night spot for some people…

After Bed it was off to Glow. I was hoping for more people, a surprise epic party…I was let down a bit. There weren’t that many peeople, which was too bad, the DJ was really good.
At least here people were dancing and things were actually decorated for Christmas. I had a great time even though there weren’t lots of peeople, one of Glow’s strengths. I can always have fun there because people actually dance there… usually.

Hey all,
It’s that time again. Another reggae party at Glow. This was, I think, the 15th party for this production team and I think the 6th I’ve photographed for them at Glow. At this point I know the people that are going to turn up, who’s going to bring a dressed up dog, and I’m even learning the songs.
I really love the reggae version of Country Roads Take Me Home
So for this one I tried to push the pictures a tiny bit more. I opted for extremely long exposures to really blur the lights and leave trails. These parties always have so much energy and I wanted to try and convey that in the pictures. This isn’t a Bed party, people aren’t standing around wanting to be seen… If you want to impress people at one of these parties you need to be dancing.
Hopefully they’ll continue on at Glow next year. If you’re feeling like you want to dance go check one out.

Hey all,
After the Temples Opening it was a short walk down the street to Bed Supperclub.
Friday night was the premier of their new resident DJ, DJ Jesse Garcia. I didn’t really stay on his side though. I traveled back and forth between the club part and the “supper” part which is where the party was really going.
It was decently packed for a Friday night and the music was good. I had a group of friends there that were really dancing, so I joined them for a while and enjoyed the night.
The pictures were for Lifestyle asia and you can see complete gallery here.BTW - the top pick didn’t make the Lifestyle gallery so I thought I’d embarrass some of my friends… sorry Shane

Hey all,
Yesterday visited a theater for the first time since March of 2002. Some of you may know that I started out thinking I would be a theater director… and hopefully one day artistic director of a regional theater (what kid dreams of that?
). Time in a college theater program, however, burnt me out. So much so that apart from one trip to New York (where I saw some of the worst shows of my life…on broadway no less) I haven’t set foot in a theater since.
Earlier on the blog I gave a shout out to my friend Sonia. She works for BK mag and has been a nice, supportive person to talk to in Bangkok. When she invited me to her play I knew I had to go, hatred of modern theater or no.
The play is Rendezvous with My ALTER. Thankfully Lifestyleasia.com sent me to photograph the play so I was spared buying a ticket
. Too birds, one stone.
Rendezvous with My ALTER was written by Sunaina Gulati. It was about a girl named Naaz who is not a traditional lead….sort of like in the musical Hairspray. But instead of a free-spirited girl who’s never down, Redezvous features a more realistic “larger girl”. The lead in this play deals with the real issues a larger girl deals with today, particularly in asia.
The play also featured many dance numbers. The script was similar to dance comedies out today like Step Up or others; kids dealing with life and dancing
The actors seemed to enjoy their roles, though I was watching a dress rehearsal and a show like that really needed a live audience to bring out the energy in the show.
The lead was great as was Sonia, which was a great relief to me… I hate having to lie to friends and smile and say good job when they really didn’t do a good job
The play was also neat for me because it took place at the Chalermkrung Royal Theatre in Chinatown. This is one of Bangkok’s oldest theaters and I’d never visited.
Pics as always this week were for lifestyleasia.com. Full gallery here:

Hey all,
Following the Luxury 1 Year Anniversary it was time to head over to Siam@Siam.
This was my first visit to Siam@Siam. It’s a small boutique hotel and spa located just past MBK shopping center. I didn’t get a chance to check out the rooms. We headed straight up to the top floor for the party.
The roof area is pretty amazing and affords a nice view of Bangkok. This is a really great spot for a party, and I’m surprised more people don’t take advantage of the location and schedule events here (hint, hint Bangkok Theme Club group).
They also featured a lingerie-ish show with paired guy and girl models. I didn’t know that was going on so was surprised to turn and see a man in bikini briefs with faux bear paws
There was a free bar from 9-11. Keep your eyes peeled for their next full moon party.
Pictures were again for Lifestyleasia.com . Check out full gallery here:

Hey all,
On Friday I photographed two parties. The first took place at popular Bed Supperclub. The event was the 1 Year Anniversary for Luxury Magazine.
There was an open bar from 7-9 with drawings, prizes, and apparently some people got to take a spin in some of the high performance vehicles parked out front. I didn’t stay long because I had to run to Siam @ Siam for their monthly Full Moon Party (pics coming soon).

Hey all,
Last night photographed Above and Beyond Trance at 808. Was a good party for a Thursday night. Lots of people filled the club and danced hard.
I like 808 because of the variety of music they bring in. It’s a great venue, but I feel old there - not because of the crowd but because of the volume of the music. I wish they’d turn it down from 11 to 10
These were photographed again for Lifestyle Asia. See Gallery Here:

Hey all,
Last night photographed at the new Nomad Restaurant and Club. It’s a Moroccan themed restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 12. It’s a great place. The interior and decoration rivals Gazebo. The building is split into two sections. There’s a restaurant with nice tables and chairs and a cool looking outdoor seating area. The club portion is stunning. Nice ceiling and wall decorations with some modern photography on the walls.
I met the director Myriam. She’s a really nice lady and was very friendly.
I don’t know if the drinks were specialy priced for the Salsa night, but my Singha was only Baht 110 which is pretty good for such a nice looking place. I saw two ladies order mixed drinks at only Baht 200 a piece for a Mojito and Cosmo.
The event was thrown by Latinos Sabotaje. I met Carlos, an organizer for the events. Really cool group and they throw Latin-style parties around Bangkok throughout the week. Apparently there’s quite a network of dancers for these things, because the people present last night could dance. People were quite serious about it too, they brought special shoes and outfits. There were people on hand to teach beginners too though which is a nice touch.
The photos were shot for Lifestyleasia.com. Gallery Here.

Got a call late on Sat from Jam to come to Glow for SENSHIMIX METRO Pt2. Was fun party all in all. Not many people so took the opportunity to photograph the staff a lot. Mini pics here or look for glow on their facebook page.
